Week of Solidarity: Continued Support for Ukrainian Refugees in Ștefan Vodă
The Homecare mobile team concluded its weekly activities in the Ștefan Vodă district, continuing to provide psychosocial services and support to Ukrainian refugees in the area. From September 9th to 23rd, the mobile team distributed hygiene kits. The backpacks, along with other kit items, were labeled with the hotline number for women and girls affected by violence.
During their work, the team met Maria, a 65-year-old woman from Belgorod-Dnestrovsk, who, along with her husband, a disabled man, sought refuge in Moldova due to the conflict in Ukraine. After nearly two years spent in refugee centers, they found temporary shelter in a ground-level house offered by acquaintances.
Maria expressed deep gratitude to the Homecare team for their ongoing support, both in the form of consultations and treatments, as well as small gestures that have brought them emotional relief during these difficult times.
In October 2024, the Homecare mobile team will expand its activities to UTA Gagauzia, providing similar services in the Vulcănești, Ceadîr-Lunga, and Comrat districts. This expansion is part of the ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities, with particular attention given to refugees and elderly people affected by recent events.
This activity is part of the “Improving Access to Essential Health and Protection Services for Refugees from Ukraine and Host Communities” program, supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA Moldova) in Moldova and funded by the European Union.
