The importance of the psychic factor in the patient’s recovery

The success of a treatment will always depend on the mental factor of the patient. The more optimistic he is, the more confident he is in his own strengths and the more he will participate in the recovery process, the more visible and better the results will be. If the patient does not have a good psyche, is lacking motivation and discouraged by the disease, the recovery will not materialize with satisfactory results. Without the cooperation of the patient and his family, recovery procedures are less likely. The daily observation showed that without the mental cooperation of the patient, without his full participation, the act of recovery cannot be performed.

Adjusting your lifestyle to a major condition is not an easy task, but the mental factor in the efficient running of a recovery program is absolutely important. Most patients are depressed, anxious, quickly lose their social adherence, and these things are amplified by the fact that they often have to stop working for a long time, or even give up the job before the disease. These issues need to be corrected as they may be a hindrance to the recovery program.

It is very important for the patient to be aware that the success of the recovery program depends entirely on his attitude towards the program, and the more he follows the instructions in the program, the more the program will achieve its goal.

The influence of the psychic factor in the appearance and development towards the aggravation or healing of the patients is considerable. The influence of the psychic factor has been recognized since time immemorial and in all medical specialties. The recovery action begins with obtaining the patient’s trust and cooperation, because in any recovery process, two must “fight”: the patient must fight with the therapist, and of course with the family. The therapist will stimulate the desire for healing, while reserving to the patient, the satisfaction for his participation. The patient must understand the opportunity of the therapy, to be convinced that in the conditions of observing the given indications, the evolution of his condition will take place in good conditions.

Recovery with occupational therapy

Occupational therapy is defined as “a form of treatment that uses specific activities and methods to develop, improve or restore the ability to perform activities necessary for the life of the individual, to compensate for dysfunctions and reduce physical disabilities.” p>

Occupational therapy is a profession that helps a person with a disability to gain their maximum potential for independence and productivity in their own lives; occupational therapy uses “activities” to increase and restore a person’s physical and mental state, at a functional level, necessary for daily life.

Occupational therapy recovery aims to develop, improve, sustain or restore physical abilities for daily living (ADL), for work or productive activities, for leisure and entertainment activities.

Occupational therapy develops or restores sensory-sensory, cognitive or psychosocial performance. Identifies and facilitates the patient’s employment in healthy occupations, free of risk factors.

Occupational therapy educates the patient, as well as his family or the caregiver or other people in order to carry out possible interventions to assist-help the patient.
