The “Homecare” Seminars in Ukraine: Profound Impact and Growing Interest in Home Care

The initiative of AO Homenare to train specialists in homecare services   in Ukraine, has generated significant impact in Ukrainian society, highlighting a high demand and deep interest in the development of home care services and medical-social centers. Following this remarkable achievement, the Union of Baptist Evangelical Christian Churches in Ukraine delegated its representatives to Moldova  to learn directly from the experience of “Homecare” in implementing this essential care model.

Under the auspices of the Project “Increasing Access to Quality Home Care Services,” supported by Czech Republic Humanitarian Aid and the Czech Embassy in Chișinău, “Homecare” conducted a series of seminars in the city of Odessa, focusing on enhancing caregivers’ capacities in providing medical-social services at home. The program covered various topics, from fundamental principles in care to managing complex cases, such as patients with infectious diseases or special nutritional and hygiene needs.

The impact of these seminars was immediate and profound, with over 100 individuals trained directly and a waiting list of over 3000 applicants interested in participating in future courses. This level of interest underscores the recognition of the value and necessity of home care services in Ukraine, a clear signal of the desire to adopt and implement high-quality care practices.

The visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the Republic of Moldova, led by Bishop Dymov Olexander and including important leaders of the religious community, among them Vice-Bishop Vladimir Pomazkov and the Prorector of the Theological Seminar in Odessa, Konstantin Pomazkov, reflects the commitment of the Union of Churches to integrate and expand home care services in Ukraine. The delegation visited exemplary medical-social centers in Bălți, Vulcănești, and Ștefan Vodă. The Ukrainian delegation also met with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Moldova to better understand ways to attract external donors for such projects.

The Director of “Homecare,” Tamara Adașan, expressed satisfaction with the seminar results and the increased interest from Ukrainian society. “We are honored and motivated by the positive response and enthusiasm shown for adopting our care model. It is evidence that our work transcends borders, having a real impact on improving the lives of vulnerable individuals,” said Adașan.

This collaboration between “Homecare” and the Union of Baptist Evangelical Christian Churches marks an important step in strengthening Moldovan-Ukrainian relations in the field of social and medical assistance, paving the way for new opportunities to improve access to quality care for all those in need.
