Technologies for the Future – Telemedicine in Home Care in Moldova
In Chișinău, the final conference of the project “Technologies for the Future – Telemedicine in Home Care in Moldova” was organized by Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova in collaboration with the Homecare Association. The event brought together experts from various fields, government representatives, international organizations, and healthcare professionals to assess the project’s achievements, share experiences, and outline future directions in telemedicine.
The event was honored by the presence of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova, Jaromír Plíšek; the Development and Economic Affairs Counselor at the Czech Embassy in Chișinău, Barbora Žáčková; Caritas Czech Republic Country Program Coordinator Hana Klimanova; and representatives of the Ministry of Health, Luminița Avornic and Elena Boleac.
His Excellency Jaromír Plíšek stated, “The Czech Republic remains a dedicated partner in supporting the Republic of Moldova on its path to modernization and development. The successful implementation of the telemedicine project demonstrates our shared commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services for all citizens. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this innovative project, from our local partners to the medical and social teams involved. This success motivates us to continue our collaboration and explore new opportunities to support Moldova in its development and European integration efforts.”
Caritas Czech Republic Country Program Coordinator Hana Klimanova concluded, “The collaboration between the Czech Republic, Caritas Czech Republic, and local institutions has shown that modern technologies can transform lives and significantly contribute to community development. Caritas Czech Republic remains committed to supporting Moldova in its development process and improving living conditions for those in greatest need.”
Representative of the Ministry of Health, Luminița Avornic, addressed the audience, stating, “In accordance with the National Health Strategy ‘Health 2030,’ approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova in June 2023, the Ministry of Health is committed to developing and implementing telemedicine services and remote medical consultations. This initiative is an integral part of the strategic objective to digitize the healthcare system, aiming to modernize and streamline medical services to meet the needs of every citizen. By promoting telemedicine, we aim to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare services, regardless of geographic location, and to improve the population’s health.”
The conference featured three discussion panels, each providing essential insights into the progress and challenges of telemedicine in the Republic of Moldova. These panels highlighted the project’s achievements, including the development of a functional telemedicine platform, proposed legislative support, and the integration of remote medical consultations into the daily practice of healthcare professionals. Participants shared success stories and discussed the positive impact of telemedicine on communities, particularly in rural areas.
The discussions emphasized the significant impact of digitalization in healthcare, the need for strategic partnerships, and the shared commitment to expanding telemedicine to improve access to quality healthcare services.
