SET FREE. PRINDE ARIPI.
The national communication campaign against sexual violence “Prinde aripi. Set Free” has been launched by UNFPA today. It is aimed at informing on sexual violence and promoting the services available to abused people.
In the next 2 weeks, AO Homecare will join UNFPA in informing on the issue of sexual violence and promoting the services available to survivors, as well as in mobilizing the actors involved in preventing and combating this phenomenon. Doctors, social workers and police officers will also be involved in the campaign.
During the launch event, attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, the Ambassadors of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the United States of America, Japan, and Sweden, as well as the Resident Representative of UNFPA in the Republic of Moldova, the president of AO Homecare, Tamara Adașan, mentioned that ” in the safe spaces organized with the support of UNFPA, psychologists and social workers listened to sad stories of refugee women and girls, exposed to sexual violence – intimidation, manipulation, brutalization, having to endure offensive, brutal language, with insults, threats, words and degrading or humiliating expressions. Some of them endured physical violence as well – hitting, punching, slamming, in any form and of any intensity. Other women and girls endured psychological violence, social violence, economic violence, spiritual violence”.
The Resident Representative of UNFPA in the Republic of Moldova, Nigina Abaszada, mentioned that “through this campaign, we aim to promote compassion on the part of service providers and amplify the voices of survivors through professionals. Only together will we be able to protect and save girls and women from the phenomenon of sexual violence and only in this way will we be able to contribute to them having a free life, which they can live in dignity”.
The campaign was launched on the eve of the world day of solidarity with victims of sexual violence – Denim Day, by UNFPA in partnership with the Government and Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the “La Strada Moldova” International Center and the Women’s Law Center.
It is a fact that:
• violence generates violence
• violence is the weapon of the weak,
• violent is the last refuge of incompetence,
• violence is the answer to ignorance,
• wisdom does not need violence,
• violence is a violation of human rights;
• certainly, the victory obtained by violence is the equivalent of a defeat, because it is temporary.
