Partnership for the Right to Health: New Guidelines for Authorities and Medical Staff Launched in Chișinău
Strengthening the enforcement of the right to health and preventing violations of patients’ rights were the central themes of the roundtable “Partnership for the Right to Health,” held on Friday in Chișinău.
The event took place in the “The Governor” conference hall of Hotel MIMI and brought together representatives of public authorities, international organizations, and healthcare experts.
In their opening remarks, Ceslav Panico, Ion Prisăcaru, Guido Beltrani, and Viorel Gorceag underscored the critical importance of institutional cooperation in ensuring equitable access to healthcare services and safeguarding patients’ rights ⚖️.
The first session focused on the presentation of a methodological guide on the effective handling of patients’ complaints by public authorities and healthcare institutions. The document was introduced by Olesea Doronceanu, who emphasized the need for clear and transparent procedures in the relationship between patients and public institutions 📑.
Subsequently, expert Rodica Grama presented a guideline designed for medical personnel, aimed at preventing violations of patients’ rights in day-to-day practice. Discussions addressed best practices, professional accountability, and effective communication with healthcare beneficiaries 🩺.
During the third session, Olesea Doronceanu provided further insights into mechanisms for preventing patients’ rights violations, highlighting the importance of monitoring and early intervention.
According to the organizers, the event brought together nearly 50 participants from diverse sectors, including healthcare professionals, public administration officials, legal experts, and civil society organizations, thereby enabling a multidisciplinary approach and facilitating the exchange of best practices among institutions 🤝.
The event also featured Q&A sessions, offering participants the opportunity to discuss the practical applicability of the presented guidelines 💬.
The roundtable was organized במסגרת the project “Equity in Health through Social Accountability II,” implemented by the Swiss Red Cross in partnership with AO CASMED and AO HOMECARE, with financial support from the Government of Switzerland 🇨🇭.
According to the organizers, the initiative aims to strengthen social accountability within the healthcare system and improve mechanisms for the protection of patients’ rights.
