Medical and Social Services for Ukrainian Refugees in Moldova, Phase III

The Public Association “HOMECARE,” with the financial support of the international organization Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V., announces the launch of the Project “Medical and Social Services for Ukrainian Refugees in Moldova, Phase III,” with an implementation period from June 2023 to April 2024.

The main goal of the project: To support vulnerable Ukrainian refugee families who have settled in rural areas by facilitating access to health and social protection services.

Target group: 200 Ukrainian refugee families settled in the Republic of Moldova. Direct beneficiaries: 1,000 Ukrainian refugees living in rural areas of the Republic of Moldova. Indirect beneficiaries: Local public authorities and Moldovan citizens hosting Ukrainian refugee families.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure access to adequate living conditions for refugee families settled in rural areas – with the assistance of employees of the “Homecare” Medico-Social Centers and upon the recommendation of local public authorities, 200 refugee families in need will be identified and provided with necessary support.
  • Procure and distribute hygiene products and detergents for 200 families and 8 Medico-Social Centers.
  • Procure and distribute non-perishable food items for 200 families.
  • Procure and distribute kitchen utensils and tableware for 50 families – 50 sets will be donated to refugee families living in precarious conditions.
  • Procure and distribute refrigerators for food storage for 10 families – 10 refrigerators will be donated to the most vulnerable refugee families.
  • Ensure access for refugee families to basic, free medical and social services through the use of the 8 Medico-Social Centers in the “Homecare” network, including the establishment of 8 multifunctional mobile teams in the following centers:
  1. “Maria Magdalena” Center in Ștefan Vodă
  2. “Sfânta Iuliana” Center in Țaul, Dondușeni district
  3. “Hippocrates” Center in Doroțcaia, Dubăsari district
  4. “Estera” Center in Chișinău
  5. “Rebeca” Center in Bălți
  6. “Sfânta Anna” Center in Vulcănești
  7. “Sfânta Agata” Center in Ocnița
  8. “Sfânta Theodora” Center in Horești commune, Fălești district
  • Provide 600 medical and psychological consultations remotely through the Association’s telemedicine platform.
  • Procure medications and medical supplies.
  • Increase the capacities of family members caring for dependents – provide training to families with members requiring specialized medical and social assistance at home.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of Moldovan legal documents granting access to social, medical, and educational services for refugees.
  • Distribute useful information to 4,000 refugees about the benefits and the process of obtaining temporary protection in the Republic of Moldova.
  • Provide individualized support to 100 refugees with special needs in accessing electronic services offered by national authorities – social workers from mobile teams will visit the homes of refugees with special needs to assist them in completing forms, accessing information, or performing other online electronic operations.
  • Organize information and consultation sessions for representatives of local public authorities (LPAs) responsible for providing legal and social assistance to refugees settled in the 8 regions where the Medico-Social Centers operate.
  • Organize awareness campaigns to encourage local communities to accept and support refugees.

Since the beginning of the war, approximately 1,000,000 Ukrainian refugees have entered the Republic of Moldova, of which over 100,000 have remained in our country, mostly elderly individuals and women with children.

The Public Association “HOMECARE,” with the financial support of the international organization Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V., within the Project “Medical and Social Services for Ukrainian Refugees in Moldova – Phase III,” continues to be involved in assisting refugees, thereby contributing to the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to meet the demand for health and social protection services in the context of managing the influx of Ukrainian refugees.
