Innovative Anti-Corruption Strategies: Moldova-Spain Dialogue
From December 18-19, representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA) of Moldova conducted a study visit to the Agency for the Prevention and Fight against Fraud and Corruption in Valencia, Spain. This visit was part of the project ‘Equity in Health through Social Accountability’, aiming to exchange experiences and practices in fighting and preventing corruption.
The CNA delegation detailed the functioning of their institution and the good practices applied in strengthening institutional integrity. These include anti-corruption expertise in legislative project development, educational activities in the field, anti-corruption volunteering, and corruption risk assessment.
Representatives of the Spanish agency shared their own experiences, focusing on international anti-corruption standards, education and awareness mechanisms, corruption risk assessment, operation of the integrity whistleblower institution, protection measures, professional ethics and deontology standards, and fraud investigation.
In the context of corruption in the health sector, the Spanish agency’s representatives emphasized that complaints about health sector corruption constitute approximately 5% of all reports, more related to procurement aspects than to informal payments made by patients.
The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Kingdom of Spain provided significant support for this visit. This collaboration represents an important step in strengthening international efforts to combat corruption and promote integrity in the public sector.
