Generations United: Bonds and Interaction

The inter-generational club meeting, called “Generations United: Bonds and Interaction,” was organised at the “Estera” Center, hosted by the civic association “Homecare.” 20 young and older people participated in it.

The session was a diverse mix of activities aiming to bridge generational gaps. It encompassed interpersonal dialogues, poetry recitations, board games, and a wide array of crafts, from glass painting, embroidery, knitting, and wood sculpting to digital literacy classes. The primary objective was to establish a safe space for the inter-generational community, fostering sharing experiences, enhancing communication skills, boosting confidence, and promoting mental health awareness, psychosocial support, and social cohesion.

Tamara Adașan highlighted the exceptional joy these meetings bring to the elderly, providing them with opportunities to interact and communicate with younger people. Simultaneously, these events offer valuable experiences for the younger generation, enabling them to embrace the wisdom and life lessons shared by the older participants.

The “Inter-generational Clubs – Youth Engagement” project is a joint initiative by Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova, in collaboration with A.O Homecare. Todaythere was organised the third meeting of the club. Activities included ice-breaking games, brainstorming sessions, and planning future club activities.

Moreover, the project involves online training sessions on “Digital Storytelling” to create and distribute short films illustrating the personal journey of young individuals in self-discovery. Running parallel is an awareness campaign emphasizing the importance of social activism across all age groups.

The overarching aim of these gatherings is to bridge generational dialogue, foster mutual learning, and cultivate an environment where both the wisdom of age and the enthusiasm of youth intertwine, creating a rich tapestry of shared experiences and knowledge.
