Enhancing case management competencies for supporting victims of violence
In an effort to strengthen the competence and expertise in managing cases of assistance and protection for victims of violence, the employees of Safe Space within the Homecare recently participated in an workshop on case management. This event was organized by Homecare under the auspices of UNFPA Moldova and was part of the project “Support for Ukrainian Refugees.”
The primary objective of this initiative was to enhance the competencies of professionals working with individuals affected by gender-based violence (GBV), with a specific focus on case management and the prevention of professional burnout. The event brought together representatives from mobile Safe Spaces and static Safe Spaces of partner organizations supported by UNFPA. Participants engaged in discussions related to various key areas:
Defining the Required Knowledge for Managing GBV Cases: The participants explored the essential knowledge and skills needed for effective case management, which plays a critical role in providing support and protection to victims of violence.
Analyzing Attitudes and Perceptions Regarding GBV: Attitudes and perceptions related to gender-based violence were examined in depth. Understanding the personal beliefs and biases of professionals is crucial to providing compassionate and effective assistance.
Exploring the Principles, Roles, and Responsibilities of GBV Specialists: Participants delved into the principles that guide their work, as well as the specific roles and responsibilities they bear in assisting individuals affected by GBV. This section emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to case management.
Through this workshop, the Homecare organization and their colleagues working under the UNFPA project have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the services provided to those affected by gender-based violence. Furthermore, they are actively engaged in the development and consolidation of professional competencies among the specialists dedicated to this vital cause.
This event exemplifies the ongoing efforts to raise the bar in the field of assisting victims of violence, both in terms of providing high-quality services and ensuring the well-being of the professionals involved. It signifies a step forward in achieving a more compassionate and efficient approach to addressing gender-based violence.
