AO HOMECARE and the National Anti-Corruption Center Launch a Nationwide Study on Citizens’ Perceptions of Corruption in Healthcare
📢 The HOMECARE Public Association, in partnership with the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC), within the framework of the project “Equity in Health through Social Accountability”, funded by the Swiss Government, announces the launch of a data collection campaign for a nationwide study on public perceptions of corruption in the public healthcare system of the Republic of Moldova.
📊 According to the organizers, the objective of the research is to assess citizens’ perception levels, their direct or indirect experiences related to corruption, as well as public opinion on integrity, transparency, and access to medical services in public healthcare institutions.
🗣️ “Corruption in healthcare has a direct impact on patients’ trust and on the quality of medical services. The data we collect will contribute to the development of public policies and concrete recommendations aimed at strengthening integrity in this sector,” stated Ana Niculiță, Project Coordinator at AO HOMECARE.
📝 The questionnaire developed for this study is designed to gather relevant data on citizens’ direct experiences and perceptions of corruption in the public healthcare system. The set of questions covers several key dimensions, including access to medical services, interactions with healthcare staff, the existence of informal payments or unofficial requests, perceptions of fairness and transparency in medical care, as well as the level of trust in healthcare institutions.
🔍 In addition, the questionnaire includes questions on the frequency and typology of situations perceived as corrupt, how patients react in such cases, their level of awareness of their rights and of reporting mechanisms for abuses, as well as opinions on measures that could help reduce corruption in the healthcare sector.
📈 Through this research, AO HOMECARE and the National Anti-Corruption Center aim to obtain a realistic, evidence-based picture of the scale and forms of corruption as perceived by patients, to identify systemic vulnerabilities, and to substantiate public policy recommendations and concrete interventions to enhance integrity, transparency, and equity in the public healthcare system.
👥 Project representatives emphasize that any person who has benefited from services in public healthcare institutions is encouraged to complete the questionnaire, and that participation is anonymous and confidential, with data used exclusively for research purposes.
🔐 Participation is anonymous and confidential. Responses will be analyzed strictly in aggregated form, without any possibility of identifying respondents. The authors kindly ask participants to provide honest and sincere answers.
