HealthEquity: Strengthening Social Accountability in Moldova’s Healthcare System
Today, the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) and the Swiss Red Cross signed an important amendment to their existing collaboration agreement aimed at enhancing the “Equity in Health through Social Accountability” project. This amendment marks a significant step in joint efforts to promote equitable access to healthcare services by increasing social responsibility.
One of the key measures outlined in the amendment focuses on strengthening the capacity of CNAM employees to effectively implement social accountability mechanisms. This will include training sessions and professional development to ensure consistent and effective application of new strategies.
Additionally, there will be a strong focus on developing and implementing an efficient communication strategy to improve the visibility and transparency of CNAM’s data and activities, making them accessible and easy to understand for the general public. Another crucial aspect is ensuring that CNAM’s data is displayed in a transparent manner, facilitating public access to relevant information about healthcare services and performance.
The second phase of the “Equity in Health through Social Accountability” project will run from May 2024 to June 2027. This phase will be implemented by the Swiss Red Cross in partnership with the NGOs “HOMECARE” and “CASMED,” with financial support from the Swiss Government.
The project’s main objective is to improve equitable access to healthcare services for all citizens by promoting social responsibility and institutional transparency. This initiative represents an important step in strengthening Moldova’s healthcare system and ensuring a healthier future for all communities.
