Gagauzia: Mobile Assistance for Refugee Women Provided by Homecare/UNFPA Team
The Homecare mobile team, supported by UNFPA, provided assistance to refugee women in October across the districts of Comrat, Ceadîr-Lunga, and Vulcănești in Gagauzia, UTA. This campaign included counseling and support for women on issues such as gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health, and practical information on employment, medical insurance, housing, financial and material aid, as well as legal assistance.
In observance of World Mental Health Day, the mobile team organized thematic sessions and provided information about available mental health services in the country. Refugee women were able to receive both group and individual psychological consultations, while the most vulnerable women received hygiene kits.
To ensure complete access to assistance, the team provided a dedicated feedback hotline, promising prompt responses and, if necessary, referrals to other organizations specializing in specific areas. Activities took place in conference spaces where possible and in the team’s mobile office within the van. For bedridden refugees, the team traveled directly to their homes.
This initiative is part of an ongoing program dedicated to supporting refugee women and facilitating their access to essential health resources and community integration.
