Expansion of UNFPA Assistance in Moldova

The UNFPA/Homecare mobile team recently concluded its activities in the Gagauz autonomous region and has now begun operations in the Cimișlia and Basarabeasca districts. This transition is part of ongoing efforts to provide essential support to vulnerable populations in various regions of Moldova.

The team specializes in offering psychosocial and emotional support, focusing on promoting gender equality and protection against gender-based violence. Special attention is also given to access to essential health services and promoting feedback mechanisms within the UNFPA network.

Recently, in the village of Ecaterinovca, Cimișlia district, Oxana, a refugee from Ukraine and a single mother of three, benefited from the consultations and support provided by the mobile team. “I received not only material support but also guidance and emotional assistance, which helped me better integrate into the community,” Oxana stated.

In addition to consultations, the team distributes vouchers for hygiene products and, when needed, hygiene packages for women in vulnerable situations. They also provide information on temporary protection status and related medical benefits.

This initiative highlights the commitment of UNFPA and its partners to supporting affected communities and promoting the well-being and fundamental rights of every individual. The UNFPA/Homecare mobile team will continue its mission, visiting these regions several times a year to ensure that the necessary assistance is always available.

This activity is part of the program “Improving access to essential health services and protection against gender-based violence for refugees from Ukraine and those in host communities,” supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA Moldova) in the Republic of Moldova and funded by the European Union.
