Anastasia – A Journey of Courage and Hope
Anastasia is only 20 years old, but she has traveled a path full of trials and challenges. Originally from the Luhansk region, city of Antratsyt, she lost her mother to a hard-fought battle with cancer when she was just 15. Left alone, Anastasia was welcomed into the care of a woman who had shared a hospital room with her mother and became the family she no longer had.
But life had more hardships in store for her – the war in Ukraine forced her to flee. She found herself in the Czech Republic, where she tried to build a new life. She met a young man there, but the relationship was short-lived, leaving her with a heavy heart and emotional burdens.
Seeking a fresh start, Anastasia met a young man from Moldova and soon moved to be with him. For four months now, she has been trying to find peace and stability in a foreign country. Recently, she discovered she is pregnant, a revelation that brought a whirlwind of emotions – joy, but also fear for the future. Facing painful memories and uncertainties, she sought help.
Thus, Anastasia arrived at the Safe Space UNFPA/Homecare office, where she benefits from individual counseling sessions with a psychologist and received a hygiene kit from Homecare to ease her situation. Here, Anastasia is finding balance, courage, and confidence, preparing herself for the new life she carries. She is deeply grateful for the support and for feeling that she is no longer alone.
“People and resources that support me, helping me move forward, building a brighter future for myself and my child.”
